We are committed to stopping the spread of COVID-19. Our primary concern is your health and safety. We are currently running both In-Person and Virtual Programs.
In our ongoing partnership with Orchestra Lumos (formerly known as Stamford Symphony), cellist Eliot Bailen is our guest soloist, accompanied by Kevin Bailey on organ and harpsichord. Bailen and Bailey go Baroque, plus other favorites. Represented composers include Bach, Vivaldi, Amy Beach, and several organ/cello pieces by living composers, including movements from Serban Nichifor’s “Requiem For Ukrainian Martyrs,” composed in 2022. A varied and colorful program spanning over three hundred years that pairs perhaps the most beloved string instrument with the organ, and for a selection of early music, the harpsichord.
The church’s harpsichord was built in 1980, and an anonymous donor gifted it to the congregation in memory of Dudley Williams. Given Dudley and Juanita’s longtime connection with the symphony and the Stamford community, it is wonderful to share it with a wider audience.
Orchestra Lumos sponsors a series of concerts around Fairfield County, and First Presbyterian Church is one of their chosen locations.
General admission tickets are available through their website.
